Maple syrup, bananas, and blueberries are well-known and well-loved pancake toppings, but if you're looking for a simple and unique way to jazz up your flapjacks, you have to try this homemade caramelized apple topping!

If you’ve been searching for new pancake topping ideas, look no further. Delicious and ready in just minutes, this will be your most loved and most popular pancake topping request!

    BEST EVER HOMEMADE PANCAKES

Looking for a new pancake recipe? These caramelized apples are amazing on top of our favorite original oat flour pancakes or oat flour gingerbread pancakes. This good-for-you oatmeal pancake recipe comes together in less than 30 minutes and is packed with whole-grain goodness that keeps you full all morning long. I also highly recommend this amazing oat milk hot chocolate recipe!

WHY THIS IS THE BEST PANCAKE TOPPING

This caramelized apple topping is a favorite for so many reasons. Incredibly easy to make and delicious are great reasons to love this recipe. But, also being able to control what ingredients you use and limiting the amount of added sugars are a big concern for many families. Healthy and pancakes aren’t words you hear together often, but being able to limit the amount of added sugars in your pancake toppings is a good place to start.

If you’re looking to level up your pancake toppings, top your next batch of this amazing homemade cinnamon whipped cream. So good!

    HOW TO MAKE CARAMELIZED APPLES

Peel and chop 2 medium-size apples of your choice.

Saute apples in a tablespoon of coconut oil or butter just until they are starting to get soft

Add 2 tablespoons of sugar to the apples plus 1 tablespoon of honey and cook for one-2 minutes.

Stir in 1 tablespoon of butter and cook until melted and the caramelized apple sauce is slightly thickened.

HOW TO STORE CARAMELIZED APPLE TOPPING?

If you have any leftover caramelized apples, you can easily store them for later in the week. Allow your apples to cool, then place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

NEED MORE PROTEIN WITH YOUR PANCAKES?

For a well-balanced breakfast, enjoy an Iced Proffee with your pancakes. The added protein will help you avoid that mid-morning slump and keep you full and focused all morning long.

This is an awesome topping! I had some dulce de leches that a friend brought me from Argentina, so I used that instead of honey and it is AMAZING! Thanks for the recipe!
