Protein Brownie Mug Cake

This incredible protein brownie mug cake has all the decadence of a rich chocolatey brownie while still keeping your macros in check. Delicious, fudgy, and packed with protein, this quick and easy brownie recipe only takes one minute to whip up and is the perfect healthy, guilt-free dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 scoop chocolate whey protein casein or plant-based can be used as well.
  • 2 tablespoons oat flour almond or regular flour can be substituted.
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ tablespoons cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
  • 1 egg lower fat brownie use 2 egg whites. Vegan option use 1 flax egg.
  • cup oat milk almond milk or any dairy milk can be used
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch salt

Instructions
 

1 Minute Microwave Instructions

  • Microwave for 60 seconds for a fudgy moist brownie or a bit longer for a more cake-like brownie. 
  • Shake the shaker bottle until brownie batter is well mixed, about 30 seconds. If using a bowl instead of a blender bottle, mix all ingredients well.
  • Pour batter into a microwave-safe bowl or coffee mug.
  • Microwave for 60 seconds for a fudgy moist brownie or a bit longer for a more cake-like brownie. 

Oven-Baked Protein Brownie Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Microwave for 60 seconds for a fudgy moist brownie or a bit longer for a more cake-like brownie. 
  • Shake the shaker bottle until brownie batter is well mixed, about 30 seconds. If using a bowl instead of a blender bottle, mix all ingredients well.
  • Pour batter into a small oven safe dish or coffee mug.
  • Bake for 10 minutes until brownie is done.

LOW FAT SUBSTITUTE 

For a lower-fat protein brownie, use 2 egg whites in place of the 1 whole egg.

For a vegan option, use a plant-based protein powder, one flax or chia egg in place of the egg, and replace the honey with maple syrup. 

DAIRY-FREE MUG CAKE

To make this mug cake dairy-free use plant-based soy or pea protein powder. 

LOW CARB OPTION

If you’re looking for a low-carb protein brownie, omit the oat flour and replace the oat milk with unsweetened almond milk.
